Basic Tips For Attaching Guitar Straps
You can't put on those guitar straps you just bought from the guitar center. You've just bought your first guitar and you can't wait to be a great guitarist. But it was the first thing you noticed when you got home.
A guitar strap is a must for any guitar enthusiast or anyone aiming to become a professional guitarist. A properly fitted strap gives you the freedom to move freely and focus on your music.
Here's a basic rundown on how to attach those straps to your guitar.
Strapping It On
Guitars normally come with end pins. This is a small rounded piece of wood or plastic that plugs into the bottom of the guitar. If you have a classical guitar, chances are the bottom of the guitar will not have this. However, there should at least be a hole at the bottom of the guitar. In this case, you can purchase an end pin from a good guitar center that sells straps.
Purchase a good looking and sturdy strap unless you want to drop your precious guitar. These straps have holes to which end pins from the guitar can be fastened to. The other end of the strap will have a string attached to it. This is to be tied to the headstock of the guitar.
Be sure that the string is made of sturdy material otherwise it may become loose or break. Some guitars have strap pins mounted on the heel of the guitar. This is the part of the guitar neck that attaches to the body.
Ideally, the strap should be adjustable in length, so that it allows the guitarist to position the guitar in the most comfortable way. Strap come in a variety of materials such as authentic leather, synthetic plastic or cloth. They also come in numerous designs and colors, allowing you to express your own personality.
