Why are guitar cases so essential? Does the question even need to be asked?
Every guitarist wants to keep their guitar living and traveling with them safely free from the hazards of overseas travel...
A case is the safest place for your guitar to be pampered in sweet dreams. The cases come in different types like the hard or hard-shell case, soft cases, gig bag, flight cases, etc. Even coffin cases!
Soft cases, Gig bags and pasteboard cases are more suitable to store the guitar around the house. Get a flight case or insulated covers only if you need to take your guitar by plane or ship.
If you really need the vital shield for your guitar, go for a rugged, well-balanced and attractive hard shell case that your guitar fits in snugly with a real thick, plush lining. There are various levels of qulaity in hard shell cases. A better one would be 6 layers of plywood with arched top. Molded plastic cases are lighter in weight but not as durable or rugged.
The latest cases offer closed environment through humidity and temperature gauges so you can easily control the humidity for storing your guitar safely. Guitar humidifiers are also available in the market that can be placed in the case along with your guitar. This is more for your vintage Fender Stratocaster.
Understand that the style of case you buy depends largely on the type, size and style of your guitar. Choose neither too big nor too small case for your guitar.
Finally, don't spend more for your case than your guitar and don't be lured by the label.
