BC Rich Mick Thomson Signature Special Guitar

Features of the BC Rich Mick Thomson Signature Special Guitar
Tuners - BC Rich sealed mini-tuners which are smooth and easy to use.
Headstock - BC Rich "Widow" headstock suits the style of the "Warlock" body. It's black on the front with maple back and sides. The truss rod cover carries the number 7.
Nut - Black plastic, nicely finished.
Neck - Maple finish with a lovely slim profile. It's fast and easy to play with decent access to all 24 frets. These same "Widow" topped necks seem to have been used on a number of models I've looked at. This is a great decision by BC Rich. By employing economies of scale they can present cheaper guitars with this really lovely quality neck.
Fretboard - Quite dark and smooth rosewood. There are no markers save for the word HATE emblazoned across the 12th fret. Regular dot markers are present down the top-side of the fretboard.
Frets - Medium and well polished. These are excellent for accurate string bends and pre-bends.
Action - Low and fast straight from the box.
Body - Black Warlock body shape. It looks like someone has had a go at a Strat body with an angle-grinder. The result is a shape that looks sufficiently menacing but still feels comfortable to play in standing or sitting position. The white binding on the face adds a touch of class and definition.
Bridge - Tough looking self-contained wrap-over bridge. The strings are inserted into the front side (nearest the neck) and wrapped over to pass over the saddles and away.
Pickups - Two BC Rich branded humbuckers. The surrounds are staggered to accommodate a slight splay of the neck away from the body (somewhat like a Les Paul).
Controls - One single volume control and a three way pickup selector. This speaks volumes about the attitude of this guitar and the music you'll be expected to play once you've strapped it on.
Pickguard - None fitted.
Strap-buttons - Very big and very secure. Both buttons are located on the back face of the body behind the upper bouts. This makes for a different feel on the strap for the ten minutes it will take you to get used to it. The guitar is very slightly neck heavy when using a nylon strap, but this would be unnoticeable if you strapped it up in leather (you'll probably want to consider black leather).
Output Jack - Set in square plate in lower edge of body.
Finish - Very good, smoothly finished throughout.
Sound of the BC Rich Mick Thomson Signature Special Guitar
The dual humbuckers hooked through a three-way selector give a wide range of heavy rock tones, I didn't miss the tone knob one bit. The sound is particularly tight with the heavily overdriven models of the Flextone. I didn't venture into any of the cleaner models, I think the guitar would've bitten me if I'd tried.
Overall Impressions of the BC Rich Mick Thomson Signature Special Guitar
Signature models are always targeted in their appeal. If you don't like Mick Thomson you are unlikely to buy this guitar. However if our Mick flicks your switches then there is a lot of good stuff awaiting you in this package. I'm consistently impressed by the playability of the BC Rich neck and I really like the Warlock body shape. The sound of the guitar is big and heavy and the look is black and mean. So what are you waiting for?
Ok, guys. Can I take the Iron Mask off now? Guys?..............guys?............
