Vintage V300 Acoustic Guitar
Vintage V300 Acoustic Guitar Review by The Man in the Jar
This little lovely won Guitar Magazine's "Best Acoustic Guitar". Let's have a look then...
Features of the Vintage V300 Acoustic Guitar
Tuners - Mini sealed type with large knobs. Excellent quality for this price range.
Headstock - Standard three a side. No trussrod cover as the trussrod is accessible through the soundhole.
Nut - White plastic, everything tidily finished.
Neck - This is a slim and very comfortable nato wood neck. The V300 scores a lot of its points here.
Fretboard - Nice smooth rosewood with traditional dot markers.
Frets - Medium frets.
Action - Medium low action straight from the box. Easily playable right up to the 12th fret.
Body - The solid spruce top sits on the laminate body. Edge binding adds a touch of class.
Bridge - Everything is fairly standard here but I was pleased to see a stepped bridge to improve intonation.
Pickguard - Single ply mock tortoise in the traditional shape.
Strap-buttons - One rather bog-standard plastic button on the bottom of the body. The other end of the strap must be tied to the headstock.
Finish - The finish was good throughout the instrument.
Sound of the Vintage V300 Acoustic Guitar
This is labelled as a folk guitar and its voice does justice to its name. The best sounds are to be had when strumming open chords. But the playability of the neck will certainly coax beginners and intermediates to push the barriers.
Overall Impressions of the Vintage V300 Acoustic Guitar
At a shade under a ton this guitar is indeed extremely good value. Vintage have spent the money where it's important for the beginner - in the playability of the neck. But this guitar is good enough for any player who wants to have an acoustic around the house for occasional use without breaking the bank.
