Easy to understand why M-Audio named their new FireWire audio interface the ProFire 2626, as it offers 26-Input x 26-Output channels of simultaneous I/O and handles up to 52 audio streams with an onboard DSP mixer. Regardless of what connections you need to make, the M-Audio ProFire2626 has you covered: 8 analogue mic/line inputs, complete with M-Audio's acclaimed Octane preamps for great sound, 8 1/4-inch TRS balanced line inputs, 2 1/4-inch TS instrument inputs, 2 x 2 S/PDIF digital I/O, 2 x 2 coaxial S/PDIF digital I/O, 8 1/4-inch TRS balanced line outputs, and 2 1/4-inch TRS headphone outputs. Each mic preamp has 75dB gain range, a -20dB pad, and phantom power that you can switch on channels 1-4 or 5-8. Whether using your favorite dynamic, ribbon, or condenser microphones, you can get great sound for the whole band through the M-Audio ProFire 2626 audio interface.

The M-Audio ProFire 2626 operates as a standalone FireWire audio interface, or you can hook it up to your Digidesign 003 or any ADAT-ready interface via its optical ADAT connection, using ProFire 2626 as an eight-channel mic preamplifier. You can even get started right out of the box by using the bundled Ableton Live Lite software. Or become familiar with the industry standard software becasue the M-Audio ProFire 2626 is Pro Tools M-Powered compatible. With LED clip indicators, per-channel gain control, switchable phantom power for condenser microphones, dual headphone outputs, M-Audio got the feature set right with the ProFire 2626!

With an onboard DSP router, you can select from up to 52 streams of audio and then send them to any of the M-Audio ProFire 2626 26 hardware outputs by routing in stereo pairs. Select from any of the 26 hardware inputs and 26 software returns and make them sources for any of the M-Audio ProFire 2626 interface's 18 input channels and create up to eight stereo mixes. With the M-Audio ProFire 2626 DSP mixer, you can create favorite presets and recall them whenever you like.

Use the M-Audio ProFire 2626 as a standalone eight-channel preamp, an eight-channel A/D-D/A converter, or as well as a digital format converter. Iin standalone mode, the eight analogue inputs route to the ProFire 2626's frist eight ADAT optical output channels, making it easy to use line, instrument, and mic ins with other digital gear. By accepting optical ADAT input, the M-Audio ProFire 2626 can route those eight channels to its eight analogue outputs, providing D/A functionality as well. Adding even more flexibility, the ProFire 2626 can convert coaxial S/PDIF digital to optical S/PDIF digital.

With high-quality AD converters, the M-Audio ProFire 2626 delivers sampling rates up to 192kHz. JetPLL clock technology provides stable synchronization and works to eliminate jitter that cwould reduce audio quality. The M-Audio ProFire 2626 allows master or slave operation via it's internal clock, and it's internal drivers deliver ultra-low latency. With ADAT lightpipe in and out, 2 x 2 S/PDIF digital I/O, on top of XLR and 1/4-inch TRS line inputs, with 1/4-inch instrument jacks on the front panel, the M-Audio ProFire 2626 is readily equipped to handle your recording needs.

With Pro Tools M-Powered and the M-Audio ProFire 2626 interface, you can work anywhere, anytime with the industry standard in music production software. Open sessions created in Pro Tools M-Powered software with any Windows XP or Mac OS X Digidesign Pro Tools TDM or LE system, giving you amazing production options. The latest version of Pro Tools M-Powered streamlines MIDI production with the introduction of Instrument Tracks, support for multi-processor use with RTAS plug-ins for increased performance, and a load of other performance-enhancing upgrades.
