The Novation XioSynth 25 combines recording and producing functions in a single workstation featuring a semi-weighted 25-key 2-octave synthesizer, 2-In/2-Out ultra-low latency USB audio interface, and a comprehensive MIDI controller with 16 onboard templates. The XioSynth 25 is USB bus-powered, takes its power from a 6 AA batteries, or from an optional external power supply.

The XioSynth 25 features a mono-timbral Novation synth engine with 8-voice polyphony. In addition to 3 oscillators with 17 waveforms each, 1 Filter of varying types, 2 LFOs with 32 waveforms each, an arpeggiator and multi-effects board, this subtractive synth also claims some brand new facilities such as the X-Gator patch programmer. The X-Gator can be made to gate each patch to create unique 16-32 step rhythmic patterns for every onboard sound, all automatically synchronized to MIDI clock from a sequencer; just press and hold one key to groove along to a track with style.

The 8-voice Novation mono-timbral synthesizer contains 200 presets with 60 Famous Users Patches from various artist and producers, as well as a multi-effects processor. Apart from being a serious synth, the XioSynth 25 is a 2-In/2-Out ultra-low latency USB audio interface including 1 XLR input with phantom power for condenser microphones. This allows you to record a microphone with phantom power, as well as simultaneously stream the onboard synth audio directly to the sequencer via the USB cable. A guitar can be plugged straight into the Jack input for DI recording, as well as simultaneously miked, and recorded with outstanding results.

The XioSynth 25 also acts as a MIDI controller with 16 templates dedicated to popular software as well as a hybrid mode for simultaneous synthesizing. Also included in the XioSynth 25 is an assignable Xpression pad and joystick.

As the Novation XioSynth 25 is class compliant, no drivers are required for Windows XP or Mac OSX, although some are provided to improve latency and stability in some applications. If you want to use the XioSynth 25 outside the studio, the USB cable can be unplugged and the XioSynth can be powered by batteries, functioning as a standalone synth completely separately from the computer.
