Hi Spacehog,

For reasons way too painful to get into, my beloved Epi Les Paul is rusty in the kind of places a guitar should never be rusty. Lets just say that save for the pick-ups, if its metal its been affected. I'm going to replace what I can, but need to remove rust from screws etc.

Any idea what the safest and best method is? I tried applying a little Three-in-one oil with a soft toothbrush which helped a bit, but not as much as I'd hoped.

You may as well replace the screws as well. Packs of scratchplate screws can be ordered from the same places as your bridge and tailpiece.

Yeah I was thinking exactly that. I was planning on ordering the bridge and tailpiece from an eBay seller who doesn't do screws. But I'm sure I'll manage to track down a suppllier.

Thanks for the reply.
