I recently aquired a Yamaha AW16g recorder / workstation secondhand from someone who had never used it and as everything lit up and scrolled through the menus I assumed everything was Ok, but I can't get past first base with the thing as I cannot get whatever I am inputting to show up on the machine. I have trawled all the websites that deal with this machine and printed off the user manual (which is less than helpful) but what everybody is saying should happen does not happen.......HELP!!!!

Close the thing down and fire it up again (standard first step). Then follow the procedure to start recording on this linked paged from the Yamaha knowledge base: CLICK HERE

Let me know if this doesn't help.

Hi
Thanks for the info which, coincidently, I had found myself this morning so I will try the procedure and let you know if it works. Looking at the directions I am sure I have tried this but knowing how user un-friendly Yamaha gear is I may not have followed it to the letter. In desparation to get a project under way I have bought a Zoom MRS 802 cd which is a doddle to use and gives terrific results but if I need to record a whole band the Yamaha would be more useful so I will persist with it.
Many thanks and I will post my findings.
