| Hi folks, any views on the best low-budget (£200 - £300ish) option based on the Gretsch 'Country Gentleman'? (i.e. the single cut/archtop version, hollow body, f holes, not that bothered about the Bigsby trem, ideally in a natural or cherry finish).
I am looking at the Yamaha AE500, or possibly the Peavey Rockingham. Views? Other options?
Cheers! |

| Whichever you choose you might like to look at GFS replacement pickups, some of which are wound for the sound you're probably looking for. They are from the US and are very affordable. Search "guitar fetish" on Google. They're humbucker-sized for maximum convenience.

| Not heard anything but good things about the Yamaha AE500, although I'm not familiar with the Peavey. The Ibanez AG / AF series are also well worth a look, as they're top quality and excellent value for money.

| A personal reccomendation here for the Ibanez AFS75T
http://www.imuso.co.uk/ProductDetail.asp?StockCode=EG00440
It has the hollow-body single cutaway spec you want (and comes in a gorgeous cherry red). The quality of workmanship is amazing for a £269 guitar and the neck is very easy to play.
For my own purposes I changed the pickups (I wanted more 'twang') but if you want a smooth jazz/blues sound the Ibanez medium-output pickups should suit you.
