I am thinking of buying an Epiphone Explorer. I would like to hear from anyone who has one and their opinion of this guitar.

I own one of these and reviewed one for iMuso - click here

I've just ordered some humbucker sized P-90's for it (I'll post a picture here when the surgery is complete). That's not to say the stock pickups aren't good, but I wanted to turn it into bluesier axe as my Epi Les Paul Ultra with Gibson Burstbucker #3 at the bridge can cover all my humbucker requirements.

Thanks for the review. I have bought the guitar in question. It arived yesterday. Plays well straight out of the box! Sounds great, although might think about pickup upgrade.

Replacing pickups is the cheapest and most effective way of making a mid-priced guitar sound like a premium quality one. Epiphones aren't bad guitars at all (far from it), and if it balances well and plays nicely, then it's far more worth upgrading a guitar than replacing it - you may not find another with the same "magic".
