| Digitech RP80 – Customer Review
I bought this approximately a year ago from you and I would like to write and thank you for supplying an amazing bit of kit at a bargainlicious price. It has transformed me from an ordinary rhythm guitarist (my primary instrument is actually bass) to someone who is asked to take a more leading guitar role in friends’ bands.
I haven’t found it necessary to change the programming much at all as the presets are so good, and the expression pedal adds a whole new dimension. My favourites are:
3 – Clean Chorus - An absolutely beautiful full chimy clean rhythm sound with a delicious bit of delay added.
7 – Fuzz Church - A fantastic “classic rock” overdrive/distortion with a satisfying reverb added. It’s a little Purple, a little Sabbath…
14 – Power Flange - Overdrive with flanger, press the expression pedal down for more flange, take it up again for less. Quite “spacey”, also reminded me of the Manson sound from “Wide Open Space”.
18 – Mr Guts - An excellent hard driven sound with a wonderful bit of delay added. Play staccato for that U2 / Skids sound or just use the expression pedal for some wonderful “volume“ effects. E.g strike note on volume zero then press the pedal down for “violining” effects… tasty!
23 – Rhythm crunch - It’s a little bit Neil Young, a little bit Joy Division. A nice overdrive sound – volume is dynamically controllable with the expression pedal.
There’s also presets for wah-wah type effects, for reverbs etc, and other distortions/overdrives such as “stacked” which does what its name implies…
It is an amazingly versatile bit of kit for not much more than the price of a single stomp box (unless you’re talking those bargainlicious Danelectro FAB boxes which are wonderful too).
You can also go into “bypass” mode at any time if you want a sound more influenced by your amp etc. There’s an in-built tuner too.
It also has left and right outputs, so you can drive two separate amps. Useful for rehearsals where you can place the amps round the room so different members of your band can hear you.
I happened to also own some stomp boxes anyway, and you can get amazing “solo” sounds from e.g. 3 clean chorus combined with a Danelectro “FAB Distortion”. (I recommend the distortion is placed before the Digitech, to get a lovely smooth sound).
Thanks again, this has really transformed my sound.currymusodave

| Hi! I would just like to add my penny-worth. I have the Digi-tech RP250, which is a similar piece of kit but with even more guitar voices.
I can vouch for the above e/mail as I agree with all the above points. Even a mediocre player like myself sounds great, god knows to what dizzy heights a really good player would scale - pun intended. The Digi-tech RP series is a superb range of guitar modelers.
However, I would warn the e/mailer, members and forum guests that if they couple this device with the Digitech Jam Man loop system, laying overdub track over overdub track, it's so addictive he won't be able to leave his house in the morning... Kind Regards to all...
