The Gibson ES-335 combines solid body and hollow body
electric guitar designs. Retaining the archtop and violin
styled F-holes of hollow body guitars, the Gibson ES-335 adds
solid body features with a thinner, double cutaway body and a
sustain-increasing solid maple block through the guitar's
center.
Classic semi-hollowbody design and dual '57 Gibson humbuckers
combine to produce everything from full-bodied growls to
singing sustain. The Gibson ES335 Dot also features a thin
tapered 1960s neck and rosewood fingerboard (24-3/4" scale),
body/neck binding, nickel plated hardware with Grover heads,
tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, separate volume and
tone controls, and a three-way switch. Includes Gibson
hardshell case.
The Gibson '57 Classic humbucker pickup featured on the Gibson
ES335 Dot is a near perfect recreation of a late 1950s
humbucker that was slightly overwound, delivering a hotter
output along with rich, vintage tone when used in the bridge
position. The '57 Classic allows guitarist to overdrive tube
preamps without their tone becoming overly strident. The '57
Classic features special Alnico II magnets, vintage enamel
coated wire, nickel-plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple
spacers and two conductor braided wiring. Unlike the originals,
today's '57 Classic humbuckers are produced under strict
quality control that ensures each humbucker delivers the
perfect combination of low end punch and midrange crunch.
