The Zoom G1 guitar effects pedal contains an enormous selection of effects and amp models for an incredibly low price. The G1 uses Zoom's ZFX-3 DSP chip and a 96kHz sampling rate to deliver amazingly accurate emulations of valve harmonics. And the 24-bit AD/DA conversion offers excellent dynamic range and 110dB signal to noise ratio. The G1 provides a variety of effects categories: Comp/EFX, Drive, EQ, ZNR/Amp modelling, Modulation, Delay, and Reverb. The Zoom G1 is loaded with 40 presets, many modelled on the signature sounds of recognized guitarists. The G1 will run for up to 12 hours continuously on four AA batteries.

By digitally simulating the overdriving of analogue components like valves and diodes, the Zoom G1 faithfully duplicates the distortion of valve amps and vintage effects. Modelled emulations include models from Fender, Marshall, Mesa Boogie, Peavey, Diezel and Vox. An acoustic simulator is also included, so the G1 can make your electric instrument sound like an acoustic.

The Zoom G1 provides a total of eight modules with 54 effects including emulations of the MXR Dynacomp, Vox Wah, or Crybaby Wah. Apply EQ in three bands. Two types of chorus add spaciousness and depth. The G1 has five types of reverb simulating the acoustics of a room or concert hall. The Harmonized Pitch Shifter can play along with you. Use delay and echo settings with up to five seconds of delay time.

The G1 contains PCM sampled drum sounds arranged in a variety of rhythm patterns for different musical styles. The 40 rhythm variations include steady 8-beats for rock and pop, funky 16-beats, jazzy 4-beats, shuffles for blues styles, and more. Rhythm training is easy, and a tap input lets you set tempos easily.

The G1 guitar tuner can be called up instantly by pushing the two footswitches at the same time. High-brightness LED indicators make the note readout easy to see on a dark stage. Mute tuning, without a sound output, is also possible.

Because of the speed of Zoom's ZFX-3 processing chip, the annoying interval when switching patches is reduced to 0.005 seconds in teh Zoom G1. When changing from rhythm to lead, you no longer need o press the switch slightly in advance, simply push the foot switch and start playing the solo phrase.
